My first dj name was, naturally, my first rave nickname. Originally I spun UK hard house in the Houston TX rave scene, and was a very early adopter of incorporating laptops and CDJ technology into my vinyl sets to play my own tracks as well as layering in custom loops. In later years, when I resurrected this persona, I played glitch hop as a jumping off point for weird / offbeat / funny / experimental music, mostly at burn and burn adjacent events.
When I "grew up" and became a "serious dj" I changed to a "mature" moniker, that was my first and middle names. (how original!) and played German techno. In later years, I've utilized this moniker when making live organic techno through random sampling.
RUMBLEMONSTA was a Tribal House hybrid DJ & Live PA, featuring my ex wife providing the backbeat structure mixing tech house tracks while I layered tribal percussion loops over them. We gained a fair amount of success and notoriety in the central Texas electronic music scene through the Ambient Camping uptempo Fridays; from being birthed on the beach to eventually being the official hosts of that portion of Texas' longest running bi-annual underground event. This project was retired when our marriage ended, though I occasionally perform solo as deadMONSTA.
This project represents my foray into hip hop / trip hop style turntablism, scratching, live mashups, and live psychedelic soundscapes.
Monty is my alter ego on the mic, writing rhymes and growing in the art of the emcee as well as beatbox and other vocal performance.
